Blue Skies........................................

Christmas was good...lots of good food...good cheer....but not so good weather.....we pretty much ate too much...which gave us excuses to stay close to home and warm.....the weather brought...rain...snow...rain.....rain and snow mixed...and melting snow.....rain...generally not the best stuff to venture out in.....and add some icy roads into the whole rain mixture and we decided to stay home....so we are looking forward to better...most likely colder weather this weekend to venture out in....the day before Christmas we had beautiful blue skys....I love living with a view of a mountain and a river or two.....so I hiked up the hill behind our house and shot a few frames of our little town and Billy Goat Mountain.....lovely view....no deer...was a little disappointed....The Methow River is pretty much froze up down here at the mouth as it empty's into the Columbia....but still a beautiful site....folks are starting to feel the chill in the air....so we have plenty of furnaces to fix...

Merry Christmas!

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas...It's that time of year to enjoy friends and family....eat lots of good food....yummy snacks....and see what Santa might have brought us....More snow coming down today.... Hope to venture out in it sometime this extended Holiday weekend.....If not I will make sure to stay warm and cozy inside by the fire....Hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday....Travel safe...and Merry Christmas!

Snowshoeing......North Cascades

20 Degrees and the snow was blowing....There is a nice pullout at the entrance to the Cedar Creek Falls Trail head.....Plenty of room for a couple of cars to park....After strapping on our snowshoes and packs....We headed up the snow covered road that leads to the official trail head and restroom....nice slightly uphill road in...easy grade and makes for a pleasant snowshoe trek in for kids or a short day hike...lots of activity on the trail....looked like other snowshoers had been in and possibly cross country skiers....Didn't take long and the 20 degree weather felt pretty good....snowshoeing gets you warmed up real quick.....Lovely hike in...saw some different tracks in the snow...possible bunny rabbit and maybe a deer....the Ponderosa pine trunks show up very nicely with all the white snow...spent sometime at the trail head goofing off in the snow....sliding down the snow covered sand pile on the back of our snowshoes....making all kinds of tracks in the snow...Fun, easy hike...

Looking For Mountain Views....................

Since I couldn't get anybody to go snowshoeing with me this last weekend....I went on a drive and took pictures.....It was a lovely day...lots of variation in the clouds...started down on the Columbia River in Pateros and continued on down towards Chelan...stopped at the park...which has a great view of the mountains...then on up around Manson...drove as many roads as I could looking for the best view of the mountains....drove a couple of roads I have never been on....what a festive little town Manson is right now....Drove on up towards Echo Ridge trail area...roads got a little on the icy side up in that area....then found my way back home....now I have a camera card or two loaded with pictures...plus basketball pictures.....lots of computer time...The season is moving right along...lots of new snow in the mountains...Can't wait to get out there and play.
