Glacier National Park................

I life time ago...or feels like it...we made a trip to Glacier National Park Montana in August 2012....we like to spend a day exploring the park and visitor centers and then a day with a hike included besides the hike at Logan Pass to Hidden Lake....Seems like every time we go..we think we are ready for cold weather...but this year our first day in the park...it was freezing...wind blowing...snowing at the top of Logan Pass....bitter cold....We did not bring proper clothing for the bone chilling weather.....we dug around in everyone's packs and came up with a couple sets of knit gloves....passed them around so everyone had at least one....dug out all the sweatshirts and jackets and layered up....man it was cold....Down jackets are gonna be packed next visit....the animal activity was scares....they were all hiding out....it still ended up being a lovely day and we saw several Grizzle bears in the Many Glacier area....we were concerned about hiking an extensive hike the next day i

Road Trip Pictures..........

Basketball season has complicated life around here...lots of traveling up and down the highway.....Districts this year was in Ephrata area...so we were able to travel through the coulees and over the wheat in the Waterville Plateau.....Good weather and nice view of the distant mountains.....these pictures were taken at about 60 miles an hour....most of them...a few tight curves so might not have been quiet 60....we didn't want to be late for any ball games....This weekend it's Reginals in the Wenatchee area and if we can pull a win off it will be on to state in Spokane....so the winter activities are put on hold for right now....beside the high mountain area we are having a typical February with little to no snow.....it's been a long slow week here at the office...would love to get outside and breath some fresh air...might have to see about taking a short hike this weekend on some of the snow cleared hills around us.....time to see whats popping up out of the ground....ti

Beautiful Lake Chelan.........................

It tried to snow yesterday....made a pretty good effort but didn't stick....the mountains at the end of Lake Chelan got a nice new dusting....made for a pretty sight this morning....the hills are really starting to melt off down in the lower valleys...grass is starting to show.....I am ready to start hiking.....I probably need to unload my snowshoes out of my Yakima box....get some backpacks ready for the trail....February and March can be rather depressing months...the transition period between winter and spring seems to really drag out...looking forward to hitting some trails and exploring new area....haven't made a list of places to visit...In the past I have always checked the weather for the week...of course haven't found a weather man that tells the truth or can predict the weather correctly.....check Washington Trails site for recent trip reports...see whats blooming...or free of snow...and decided on a place to hike....I am very eager to try to hike Maple Pass thi
