Not all trails are created equal

 Beautiful big views, abundance of flowers, snow capped mountains all around and singing birds.  I love this hike when the flowers are blooming. This is a hike you can do multiple times in the spring and there is always new flowers blooming.  The mountain views are incredible, a nice view of the valley floor looking up towards Mazama and back down towards Twisp.  So much to see, hear and enjoy.  This is the perfect hike for an evening adventure, not to long, a fairly easy hike, the birds are very active and keep you company as you make the loop.  These pictures are only from one side of the loop, I ran out of good light to complete it since I stopped for every flower along the way.  When the balsam root is blooming it is a beautiful display of golden flowers, intermixed with lupine and larkspur.  I have hiked this trail many times over the years and am always amazed by natures incredible beauty.

Where the flowers bloom

I have never in my life seen so many flowers in one spot, the beauty was unbelievable.  This was a year ago that I walked this trail for the first time.  I was in total amazement of the vast amount of flowers at my feet.  I spent hours just walking this hillside until the sun went down behind the mountains,  taking in the amazing flower display and incredible view of the valley.  I have since returned to this trail, but this day I will always remember for the incredible beauty of the flower display.  Nature is so amazing.  Lewis Butte Trail is a wonderful hillside hike, it has had some very nice reconstruction done on it to help make the trail flow better with the landscape.  The balsamroot and lupine cover the hillside and create a carpet of beautiful color. As you climb the views of the valley spread out before you, off in the distance the mountains appear.  At peak bloom the flowers will hold most of your attention as you slowly make your way back and forth as you wind up the hi
