Evening Stroll In The Hills I Call Home

When there's still snow in the mountains and spring is coming alive on the surrounding hills, evening walks are a good way to spend a little time in nature.  It's the simple things that help you get through the week, walk off a little stress and just enjoy the beauty of the evening light.  This particular evening there wasn't a lot of flowers involved, it was more about catching the evening light moving through the fresh aspen leaves that were whirling in the breeze and lighting up the small flowers that covered the hills.  Off in the distance the coyotes howled and played as the sun dipped behind the mountains.  Beautiful way to end the day, enjoying the last rays of sunshine and walking the hills I call home.

My How We Have Grown

My fluff ball has turned into a rather large fluff ball.  For three years you have been a part of life.  When I made the decision to take you home with me I wondered what I was getting into.  Having raised chocolate labs for years I assumed that you wouldn't be much different in personality, boy was I wrong.  Your the loving, in my space, bump me with your hips, sad eyed ball of fur that greets me every morning and every evening with an abundance of enthusiasm.  You still struggle with the thought of going on a long hike, much whining is involved, but if an evening walk around town is the plan your excited to get going.  I have never regretted making the decision to bring you home.  Looking forward to more hikes in the spring with you and winter tumbles in the snow with you Lupine.

It took a while for the sky to finally change color and seemed like a very slow process, but totally worth it.  Truly worth the time but trying on the patience.  The flowers were starting to look a little bit worn and weathered, but still so beautiful.  There's something about being out in nature and enjoying a quiet moment as the sky turns brilliant color over a field of flowers, such a simple pleasure.  Sometimes we need to just disconnect from life and stop and enjoy the beauty around us, drive that dirt road, absorb those beautiful sites not far from home. ...
