Finding joy in a rainy day

The forecast called for rain, heavy rain so I kept myself busy finishing up my taxes until the storm passed.  As soon as the sky started to break up and a little blue started showing in the sky, I was off running for my car.  Such a pleasure to walk at my leisure as far as the eye can see over hills starting to green up, flowers starting to pop, so much life out there.  A little bit of moisture made the flower colors pop and stand out.  Enjoyed just taking my time to explore the Department of Fish and Wildlife area and seeing what was coming up.  Love the smell of the outdoors after a fresh rain, the soil, the sage brush, such an earthy fresh smell.  A beautiful spring afternoon to just spend sometime outside.   Found some Shooting stars, buttercups, yellow bells, bluebells, little mustard type plants with bright yellow flowers and a few spring beauties were blooming.  My love of wildflowers is still going strong even after many hikes and ...

Breezy at Beezley Hills Preserve

A breezy morning at Beezley Hills Preserve. My eyes had a work out trying to stay focused on the beautiful wildflowers as they whipped in the wind.  It was a very quiet morning hike, had the whole sagebrush hillside to myself except for the one lone coyote that past through at a fast clip.  I spent hours just meandering across the hills looking for beauties, there was plenty to see.  The cactus are not ready to pop blooms yet, but it wont be long.  Love to quietly hike through an area and absorb all the sounds of nature, birds singing, rustling of the dry grass, the wind whistling through the sage.  I do spend plenty of time looking over my shoulder, you never know what that sound might be.  I think I have a fear that someone might catch me in an odd position as I'm doing my 100th squat of the day to get the not so perfect flower picture.  Highly recommend this hike if your a fan of wildflowers, watch for cactus, bring a warm hat and wind bre...
